Audience: Any person who is involved in confined space work activities including operatives, supervisors and those involved in planning and management.
Course Aim: To provide enough practical experience and education so a successful candidate understands the risks involved and can work safely in confined spaces.
Syllabus:
Recognition of a confined space
Confined space entry procedures
Access and egress techniques (harnesses, lifelines, winches, tripods)
Atmosphere monitoring and gas detection
Emergency breathing apparatus and evacuation
Non-entry rescue techniques
Confined space hazard and risk assessment awareness
Safe systems of work and permits
Confined space legislation awareness
Prerequisites: Reasonable level of health, fitness and aptitude.
Max. Ratio: 6 Delegates to 1 instructor.
Certification Expiry: The certificate is valid for a maximum of three years, subject to maintenance of skill level.
Throughout the course, the student will be continually assessed and expected to complete a written and practical examination.
Only on successful completion of the whole course and examination will the candidate be issued with a certificate of competency.
